07/18/2010 - Calgary, AB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Matt Pelech to a one-year contract on Sunday.

A blood clot disorder limited the Toronto native to 42 games last season with Calgary's American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat. He returned to play in all 13 playoff games.

Originally taken by the Flames with the 26th pick in the first round of the 2005 Entry Draft, Pelech has three assists in five career NHL games.
